Spruced up Patio

In honor of the first day of spring (and the great weather we've been having here), we finally cleaned up our back patio. Alright, let's face it, at 6 months pregnant, I sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine while Ted did the cleaning while. Anyway, the process included bagging up and throwing away a lot of leaves, finding a new storage space for our bikes, cleaning out the A/C unit, properly hanging the garden hose, potting the two topiary trees we purchased this past fall (guess which one had a rough winter), and hanging the "Bienvenidos" sign we bought in the Hill Country during spring break of '06.

As you can see from the pictures below, the patio looks pretty good, and we are proud of our new usable space. Coming soon - hanging pots of flowers that will be placed between the trees. We also hope to add some patio furniture so that we can really enjoy the space.

Baseball

On Monday, we were invited to a Baylor baseball home game by our friends, Bryan and Amy, who were both on spring break this past week. It was our first baseball game here on campus, and it was a real nail bitter. Baylor was ahead, but at the top of the 9th, A&M tied things up. Baylor wasn't able to finish the job at the bottom of the 9th, so the game went into extra innings. Baylor was able to pull it out in the end, and we all cheered them on (with the exception of Amy, who is going to vet school at A&M). Below are some pictures of the game that Ted took.

Spring Break Project

Our big accomplishment during Spring Break '09 (which turned out to be cold, rainy, and gloomy) was painting the nursery. The painting was relatively easy . . . but cleaning out the room so that we could paint was not as easy. We had to get rid of some furniture and relocate a few items (some of which are still in need of more permanent homes). But all in all, we successfully completed the project and are very happy with the results. Below is a video clip that shows the clean up process.

Last Week's Milestones

On Saturday, the Men's Rugby Club defeated SFA in the DII Quarterfinals. Their semi-final match is today in about an hour, and we wish them luck. Details about the quarterfinal match can be found by clicking here.

On Wednesday morning, I felt the baby kick from the outside for the first time. Ted has also felt a couple of faint kicks, and I'm hoping he gets to feel one of the stronger ones soon. Little Ted is very active, and he doesn't seem to like to feel squished - every time I lean forward, he makes his presence known.

I was also asked, for the first time, if I was pregnant on Wednesday afternoon. I was dressed for teaching and felt like I was finally showing. Guess I was right because one of the Copy Center workers whom I see regularly took one look at my stomach and asked me if I was pregnant. It was fun to share the news.

Baby Feet

Aren't they cute?
