Stuck

Little Ted has recently gotten into the habit of dumping over his toy box in order to locate the one or two items that he wants to play with.  Since he hasn't quite mastered the art of picking up his toys yet, you can imagine that these dumping sessions keep mom pretty busy.  Maybe that's why this mommy chose to ignore her son's screeches for help and instead went for the camera.  You see, during one of these dumping sessions, Little Ted managed to get himself stuck in the toy box.  He got my attention, and I just couldn't resist catching the moment on film.  Part of what made it so funny was that he didn't appear as concerned as he sounded; his "resting spot" gave him a good view of the TV, and he called for help as he enjoyed his cartoons.

This is Very Late . . .

. . . but I still wanted to post this adorable father/son photo of my Teds that I took at a wedding we recently attended.  It was getting late, and Little Ted wanted nothing more than to cuddle with his daddy.  So sweet, and a great photo to wish all the dads a Happy Belated Father's Day!

Happy Birthday Cousin Matthew

Little Ted would like to wish his cousin Matthew a very happy 7th birthday.  Hope it's great, and can't wait to see you next month.

Amanda's Visit

Little Ted's godmother visited last April.  This was their first face to face meeting, and they had a blast together.  Little Ted enjoyed her company - and her presents, which included a remote control, cherry red Mercedes.

Kitchen Remodel

We have picked up our remodeling tasks here at the condo.  May was an eventful month.  Ted stained our kitchen cabinets and installed new hardware.  He installed a new lighting fixture above the sink and wood blinds on the downstairs windows.  And we had new countertops, a backsplash, a sink, a faucet, and a new garbage disposal installed.

Here is the before photo:

Here are the “process” photos:

Little Ted took part in the fun, too, as daddy’s helper.

And here is the final product.

Thomas the Tank Engine

Our little boy loves trains – and train cartoons.  Chuggington and Thomas the Tank Engine are his favorites.  When Grandma & Grandpa Robles were here, they were introduced to these cartoons (as are all adults without children who spend any length of time with us), and they picked up a Thomas outfit for him before they left.

Unfortunately, they had to go before they could see Little Ted enjoy his outfit.  Here he is in the ensemble with his favorite train book.  He loves his t-shirt so much that he gets distracted by it; it’s hard to look at your shirt and play at the same time.

Graduation Photos

Here are a few photos from graduation and the party Ted put together for me.

DSC00322Little Ted sat through the ceremony with the family.  It was a long event for him – he didn’t stay awake long enough to watch his mommy walk across the stage.

DSC00324Here I am walking in with the other graduating Ph.Ds.

DSC00325And walking to my seat (it felt like we were sitting for an eternity – not an easy thing to do in such a large robe).

Isn’t this a cool cake?  Ted found this bakery, and we are certainly glad he did.  For some reason, our town has a major shortage of good cake places.  But this bakery makes good looking – and good tasting – cakes.

The party afterwards was very nice.  We enjoyed burgers and lots of other good food, and spent the afternoon relaxing.  What could be better???

Graduation

Graduation was a week ago.  Thanks to the miracle of modern technology, some of you were able to watch the event online.  Here's the snippet that pertained to me - receiving my hood (after a couple of my colleagues, that is). It represents the culmination of 8 years of work.  An exciting moment indeed, and I was happy to be able to share it with my hubby, son, parents, in-laws, and nephew.

Dancing Fool!

Little Ted loves music, and he loves to dance!  Here's footage of him getting down to the classical soundtrack from The King's Speech (fantastic movie, by the way).  It's a little dark, but you'll get the idea.  :-)

Catching Up

Because this past spring semester was my "finishing up" term, the blog has received very little attention.  That doesn't mean nothing was happening in Casa Gonzalez; on the contrary, we've had quite a bit of activity.  Just this month, we celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary, Mother's Day, and my graduation.  We had visitors from both sides of the family.  And all this took place while we had a kitchen remodel underway.

Things happened earlier in the year as well.  At the end of March, Little Ted attended his very first birthday party.  The son of one of Ted's groomsmen turned a year old, and we helped them celebrate.  Pictures of the event are below, and pictures of our other activities are soon to come.

Live Feed for Commencement

If you can't come to graduation, you can watch it live via the internet.  It starts at 9:30 am CST (7:30 am PST), and the graduate students (if I'm correct) will be the last ones to have their names announced.  Just use the link below and look for the link to the live video feed on that page.
